Fadó Festival

This St Patrick’s weekend, Bantry will host its inaugural Fadó Festival, re-creating Bantry of yesteryear.  Friday 16th March – Sunday 18th March 2012

The scene will be set by the pubs adopting a “pre-electrification theme” and street lighting black out on Friday & Saturday night.  The highlight of the Festival will undoubtedly be the street pageant of fire and acoustic splendour setting out from the waterfront and wielding its way through the streets on the Saturday night.

The full programme of events is to follow but the following will give you a flavour….

The Festival will begin on Friday morning with a re-enactment of the old style fair in Bantry featuring livestock and our already renowned food-market exhibiting local artisan produce.

The local businesses will be encouraged to participate in the spirit of the Festival by adorning their premises with period theme.  Visitors to the area will also be invited to adopt the theme via their dress etc.
