Nature Through the Senses Trail
At Westlodge Hotel, we believe that nature should be enjoyed by everyone.
Our Nature Through the Senses Trail was created as an inclusive outdoor experience that encourages guests to engage with the natural world through sight, sound, touch, smell and reflection. Rather than focusing on distance or physical activity, the trail invites visitors to slow down, notice their surroundings and explore at their own pace.
Designed for all ages and abilities, the trail offers opportunities for mindfulness, discovery and connection with the natural environment surrounding Bantry Bay.
Throughout the grounds, guests can listen to birdsong and the calls of our resident ducks, feel the textures of leaves and bark, breathe in the fresh air from Bantry Bay and take moments of quiet reflection amongst the gardens and woodland.
The trail is designed to be flexible and welcoming for all ages and abilities. Whether you are a family with young children, an older visitor, someone seeking a mindful outdoor experience or a guest who enjoys sensory exploration, the experience can be adapted to suit your own pace and interests.
Along the trail visitors will discover sensory prompts, reflection points, woodland discoveries, fairy doors, the Gratitude Tree, the Whispering Hut and many opportunities to pause, observe and connect with nature.
As the seasons change, so too does the experience, with different wildlife, colours, sounds, textures and scents making every visit unique.
